An elderly man who was robbed and robbed again by an armed man was shot dead by police officers in a New York City gas station this morning, police said.
The shooting was reported at about 8:15 a.m. at the 8800 block of West 46th Street in the Bronx.
It was not immediately clear if the victim was armed with a gun.
An eyewitness, who asked not to be identified, said the suspect approached the man and began to talk to him.
The witness said the man said, “You’re a big shot, and you know how to shoot,” before the suspect fired a shot, striking the victim in the arm, according to the police report.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center in stable condition.
The Bronx District Attorney’s office said it would not comment on the incident.
