More articles January 4, 2018 12:37:43 A gas station in New York City has been the priciest in the United States since at least the early 1980s, according to a new analysis of national gas station prices.
The study found that the Wawa Gas Station in the nation’s capital averaged a premium of $3.98 per gallon during the first two weeks of 2018.
The highest average price was at the New York-Pennsylvania Station, which is the largest gas station on the East Coast, at $5.94.
The average price in New Jersey was $3,076, according the study.
The study, conducted by real-estate brokerage RE/MAX, found that Wawa is the most popular gas station at the expense of other locations.
The gas station with the most average prices was at The Westin, which has the most customers in New England, at a premium rate of $4.78 per gallon.
The Westins price was also one of the highest in the Midwest.
The Wawa gas stations in the Northeast and Midwest were also among the most unaffordable locations.
In the Northeast, the average price for a gallon of gas was $1.26 in the weeks leading up to Jan. 2.
The prices in New Hampshire, Vermont, and New Jersey were also one-third the average.
The price for an average gallon of gasoline in the Mid-Atlantic was $2.60.
The Midwest, however, was home to some of the cheapest gas stations.
The Average Gas Station Prices Index for Jan. 1-Dec. 31 was $4,000 in Minnesota, $3 of that in Illinois, $1 in Indiana, and $1 of that for Ohio.
In Connecticut, the index was $6.95.
The Westin has been a top-of-the-line spot for decades.
But the average cost has dropped considerably since 2009, when the gas station was at $2 per gallon, according RE/Max.
The Wawa was among the last of the gas stations to open, opening in 1990.
The station’s owners, who still have ownership of the site, said they planned to reopen in 2021.
