Sam’s Gas Station at 6-40 N. Washington Street has a sign on its front door that reads “We’re sorry to inform you that our gas station is closed.”
The store’s sign reads, “Due to the increased traffic on our road, we have decided to close.”
Sam’s Gas, which has operated on the side of the road for decades, said it is still in negotiations with the state for a new gas station.
They also said they were working on new signs.
The store’s manager, Matt DeMunnery, told the Herald he is in the process of looking at other options, including an expansion to another building on the property.
He said the gas station’s business will be unaffected by the closure.
“We’re working with our legal counsel to see if we can come up with a new lease,” DeMunders said.
“We would be happy to talk to them.”
DeMundERS said they are open for business, though he said they will likely be closed until the end of the summer.
Sam’s has been open since 1963.
