The signs are all there.
The signs say “gas station.”
But, for some reason, the signs are not working.
“We have one in Knoxville,” said Sarah Brown, a spokesperson for the Tennessee Gas & Electric Cooperative.
“The sign just isn’t working.”
Brown said the company is working on fixing the signs.
The gas station has a large sign with the word “gas” in big bold letters, with a large yellow sign with a big black “H” over it, along with the words “Please don’t use this sign for gas.”
The sign is a hazard to drivers trying to navigate the narrow parking lot of the gas pumps.
“They’re supposed to have signs,” said Brown.
“There’s a warning, and it says ‘no gas stations,’ so you can’t use that sign.”
Tennessee Gas has received numerous complaints from drivers who have tried to use the signs for gas.
“This is a problem we have with a lot of gas stations in Tennessee,” said Karen O’Toole, the director of the Gas Industry Association of Tennessee.
“Gas stations are supposed to be places where you can use your gas, and unfortunately, the sign is kind of a hazard for drivers trying, because it’s not supposed to work that way.”
Tennessee has seen an uptick in accidents on gas pumps, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The number of gas pumps in the U.S. has grown by more than 7 million since 2008, according a study by the Institute for Energy Research.
According to a new report from the National Academy of Sciences, fuel pumps are the most dangerous place to be.
More than 6.2 million Americans were injured in accidents involving a fuel pump in 2014, according the report.
The study said that the most common cause of injury was “vehicle collision or impact with another vehicle,” followed by “collision of a fuel-pump assembly or an electronic device.”
The study found that fuel pump collisions and collisions with gas lines account for more than 20,000 deaths and 7,700 injuries each year.
The industry is working to make sure its signs don’t fall victim to this problem.
“I can’t speak for the signs in Tennessee because I don’t have the right equipment, but we’re working on them,” said O’Staillie.
“It is something that needs to be addressed.”
